- Are Young people who grew up as JW's encouraged or even allowed to look into other religions before they get baptized?
- People who leave their religion to become a Jehovah's Witness often get opposition from their families and are sometimes disowned. Do you think their families are right to do this?
- Are JW's allowed to see in detail how their donations are allocated and what they're invested in.

Testing For Transparency - An Honesty Check
by Vanderhoven7 inplease share any other yes/no questions that might fit with the following 10. also feel free to critique the 10 listed.. testing for transparency.
there are some facts that jehovah's witnesses are reticent to divulge to new prospects.
you may want to find out very early in your discussions if the witnesses you are studying with are open and truthful about their organization's doctrine and practices by asking them a series of sensitive (potentially embarrassing) questions about their personal beliefs.

Counting Memorial Attendees and Partakers
by caves inhow will the borg be able to count the partakers(144,000 anointed) since jws are to celebrate the memorial at home?
what about accurate counts for attendees?
what challenges do you see?

I don't know why they bother counting them since the numbers are all over the place and obviously don't mean a thing.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Former Poster (TMS) Returns During Coronavirus Lockdown
by ReinventedTwice inmy old user account says i joined this forum 19 years ago, an intermittent poster starting 102 topics, the last about 12 years ago.
with my community under a volunteer stay-at-home policy and a mandatory curfew, i took the time to read all of my old posts and the replies, reminding me of how informative and therapeutic this forum was during my jw to ex-jw transition.. in 2018, my life took another turn with the death of my wife of 49-1/2 years after a long illness.
my writing, according to observers, lost its edge and purpose.. i travelled to asia, meeting a beautiful, intelligent woman in cagayan de oro, philippines, 33 years my junior.

A mind changed by force is a mind unchanged.
It might not be the best time right now to shake up her faith, you could wind up with an emotional mess on your hands. Once this current situation passes, she may be more likely to see it as another false alarm, on her own.
I simply asked my wife to explain certain beliefs to me as if I had been away long enough to have forgotten them. I didn't comment one way or the other but in the process of explain them to me, she realized that they didn't make sense. If I'd have pointed things out to her, she'd have dug her heels in, on principle.

Who `d a Thought The GB would Listen to the United Nations And Stop Witnessing for Jehovah.?
by smiddy3 in"we must obey god rather than men" act.5:29 has sure been discarded now and the gb are obeying the united nations world health organization and shutting down all of their "witnessing" operations ,very effectively i might add.. instead of boldly proclaiming the kingdom message as they used to blow there own trumpet about obeying god rather than men they are now more in fear of what the superior authorities will do to them if they don`t obey them.. this is something nobody banked on ever happening least of all the governing body of jehovah`s witnesses that the preaching work would come to a standstill .. of course they will put a spin on it ,that there protecting the health and well being of their members and the public.. but the fact remains they are not trusting in jehovah to protect their members nor are they trusting in jehovah to keep the "worldwide preaching work" going.. what do you think ?.

Obeying men rather than God What do you think ?
Since you asked... to me thats not really a fair comparison. There’s a difference between the government temporarily stopping the preaching work and other similar activities in the effort to stop the spread of a disease as opposed to stopping it outright simply because they've singled JWs out and said they have no right to preach it all.
JWs would stop preaching if the weather service said a hurricane or tornado were on the way but they wouldn’t stop if the government said we don’t like what you’re saying and don’t want you preaching anymore.
X JWs have legitimate complaints but this is one of those unfair “ they’re damned if the do/ damned if they don’t” situations.

What do you think about The Watchtower
by dydeonwl inpeople are not willing to accept the popularity of the watchtower and awake as these magazines belong to jw.
a listing site has declared the watchtower the most popular magazine in the world.. source: https://tingtopten.com/2020/01/top-10-most-popular-magazines-in-the-world/.
in comment section of this link people are abusing again jehovah's witnesses.
-
Pete Zahut
If each of the 8 million JW's has their own personal study copy of the Watchtower and they each have 2 extra (usually more) magazines left over each month from not being placed, that's 24 million copies that are automatically accounted for each month. Multiply that by the 12 months of the year, that's 288 million magazines.
Any publisher would love to have 8 million subscribers who are obligated and afraid to not only to read their magazines each month regardless of what's said in them but who also also buy extra copies that may or may not end up on a shelf somewhere.

What drives these doomsday predictions?
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara in"what drives these doomsday 'prophets'.
many include wildly inaccurate readings of the book of revelation.
often these pandemic prophets end their predictions with sign-offs such as "if you don't have a bible, buy one!.

What drives these doomsday 'prophets'
Fear, fanaticism, a dash of mental imbalance and an extreme disappointment in how ones own life turned out.
